I confess....that last Saturday, I ran the Coon Dog Day 5K, just barely. It was hot, and I wasn't ready for the race, and I did not like it. But, I hung out with friends, and at least burned some calories.
A few hours after the race I was content to float down the river on a tube, and I confess that I really love tubing. It was a perfect day. I didn't see any snakes (didn't look for any), and stayed in the middle of the river. I go into panic attack mode when I get too close to the bank. All I can do then is go in circles, like a freakin' idiot. But, I mastered the art of staying in the middle this year. Of course, having a really nifty paddle helps! The next day though, Sunday, I was really sore - from running and paddling! But it was the best kind of sore.
I found out about a new sports watch that may hit the market this spring. I blogged about it this week, and you can check that out here. The watch has a very cool safety feature, and is lighter and sleeker than other GPS watches on the market. I confess that I pledged to back them, and would love to see them get all the funding they need. They have a Kickstart campaign going until July 14.
Hubby and I celebrated 18 years of marriage this week. I confess that I still find it hard to believe that we have been married that long! After we agreed (I thought) to just have a meal out together, he sent me roses - the card read "I believe in miracles since you came along".
We made Sugar-Free Flourless Peanut Butter cookies in our baking group this week. I'm try to eat lower carb right now, and I thought this might be a tasty treat. With the key ingredients missing (sugar & flour) I should have known they would be NASTY. They weren't just nasty - they were gross. And I confess that I served them to all my residents anyway, and offered them to staff too - without telling them that I thought they were horrible. I don't know why I keep trying with Splenda. I don't like it, and never will.

Floating down a river in a tube sounds like SO much fun!! I would love to try it sometime! Happy Anniversary! What a sweet note to get after your first date...no wonder you've stayed with him for 18 years! :)
Tubing looks like such fun. We don't have rivers big enough to tube in our here, at lest not ones close enough to make it worth while.
ReplyDeleteI love tubing - if you ever get the chance - it's worth it. Especially on a really hot day! Thanks for stopping by!

DeleteI first tubed in college - back in the late 80's. That makes me feel old. It is very relaxing - and fun, especially when you hit some nice "rapids".
ReplyDeleteWe've been talking about going tubing all summer. I guess we should just make it happen.
ReplyDeleteThe card from your husband is too sweet!
What a fun post.
ReplyDeleteTubing looks like so much fun! I haven't done it in years and now I so want to.
ReplyDeleteI do think Splenda has an awful after taste.
ReplyDeleteI haven't found any recipe that can hide that fact.
